Beach Boys Documentary Coming to Showtime

by VVN Music

In 1966, while they were still known as the great surf music band, the Beach Boys released one of the greatest masterpieces of the rock era, Pet Sounds.

Very much a Brian Wilson album through his composing of the majority of songs and production, Pet Sounds introduced the world to a string of classics including Wouldn't It Be Nice, You Still Believe in Me, Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder), Sloop John B, Caroline No and the beautiful God Only Knows. Originally met with lukewarm reviews, it has gone on to be recognized as one of the true greats with Rolling Stone naming it the second greatest album ever made after the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper.

In April, Showtime will present Beach Boys: Making Pet Sounds, a full length documentary on the iconic album including interviews with Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks. Also included is archival footage from the recording sessions and outtakes.

Brian Wilson, along with Al Jardine, has been on the road for the last year performing Pet Sounds in its entirety in celebration of its 50th anniversary.
