Sam Moore Signs On to Play Donald Trump Inaugural Event

by VVN Music

Sam Moore, one half of the great R&B duo Sam & Dave, has said that he will perform at the Thursday Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration.

The show will be held on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and will included not only president-elect Donald Trump, but also Toby Keith, John Voight, the Piano Guys, Lee Greenwood, RaviDrums, 3 Doors Down and The Frontmen of Country, Tim Rushlow, former lead singer of Little Texas, Larry Stewart of Restless Heart and Richie McDonald of Lonestar.

Previously on the bill was Jennifer Holliday who pulled out earlier this week with reports saying that she had received threats both against herself and her family. Moore said on Tuesday that he thought the criticism and actions aimed at Holliday and other musicians who have pulled out were not fair.

Moore also stated that he would not be intimidated by critics, telling TMZ "As an American, I am honored to perform for President-elect Donald Trump. I was a participant in the civil rights movement and have seen many positive changes and advancement in my 81 years of living in this wonderful country."

Moore is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with duo partner Dave Prater. Their hits included Hold On, I'm Comin', Soul Man and I Thank You. After a short split in 1970, they continued performing until Moore went solo ten years later. Since then, he has released just one album, 2006's Overnight Sensation.

In other inauguration news, the Trump committee has decided not to announce the performers at the induction ceremony and the inaugural balls.
