Marie Osmond and Paul Anka Latest to Say No to Trump Inauguration

by VVN Music

There's a new game in the media. Report that an artist is going to participate in Donald Trump's inauguration and wait to see how long it takes them to deny it. That's what has happened in the last 24 hours with both Marie Osmond and Paul Anka.

Reports surfaced yesterday that Osmond was on the bill, but she took to Twitter yesterday afternoon to set the record straight.

Many of you have seen various stories saying that I volunteered or that I am performing at the inauguration. So let me be clear!

I had no intention of performing at this inauguration, no matter who won!

I try to stay out of politics. I'm an entertainer. My interview statement simply tried to be nice and promote a message of love, not hate.

I have performed for serveral Presidents, done USO tours, and my charity, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals takes children to the White House to visit the President every year - regardless of who the sitting President is.

I love this great country!

Also yesterday, a source told Radar Online that Paul Anka would be performing My Way at the inauguration with rewritten lyrics about Trump. The source said "While everyone else was running scared from performing at the inauguration, Paul stood fast. He wasn’t about to be intimated by anyone!"

Unlike Marie, Anka was thinking about performing, saying in a video posted by TMZ that he and Trump have been friends for fifty years and that there had been a "dialog" to do it with My Way being his favorite song, but "The backstory of it is, I've been in a custody battle for two years for my son Ethan and we have a new schedule now and I'm unable to do it but there was a dialog about me going in and doing it."

Paul went on to say that he would have done it simply out of respect for the country and the office.

The current list of artists who have agreed to perform at the Trump inauguration is Jackie Evancho, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the Rockettes, 3 Doors Down, Toby Keith, Jennifer Holliday, Lee Greenwood, the Piano Guys, DJ Ravidrums and The Frontmen of Country (Tim Rushlow, of Little Texas; Larry Stewart of Restless Heart; and Richie McDonald of Lonestar).

Those that have turned Trump down include Elton John, David Foster, Andrea Bocelli, Charlotte Church and Ice-T.
