Rumor Mill: Ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham to Be Named an Officer of the British Empire (OBE)

by Music-News.com Newsdesk

Victoria Beckham is reportedly set to be made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in Queen Elizabeth II's New Year's Honors List.

The pop star-turned-designer will be feted for her services to fashion and her charity work, according to the MailOnline.

"Victoria is incredibly proud of the fashion brand she has built and ever thankful for her amazing team," an insider said, adding the 42-year-old is "delighted and humbled for the recognition".

Victoria is said to have told her family during their Christmas break to the Maldives, where the Beckhams are holidaying with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and his family.

The source continued that being recognized for her charity efforts has made Victoria all the more happy.

"She is especially thrilled that her philanthropic work as a UNAIDS goodwill ambassador, creating a voice and awareness for women with HIV that suffer prejudice and discrimination, has been recognised in this way," the source continued.

Victoria's husband David was made an OBE in 2003 for his services to football.

Victoria started her career as a member of the mega successful British girl band Spice Girls, before embarking on a career in fashion. She launched her eponymous label in 2008, which has become a New York Fashion Week staple and celebrity favourite, with fans including Eva Longoria, Blake Lively and Jennifer Lopez.

The mother-of-four juggles her fashion empire with her charity work with the United Nations (U.N.). Victoria was named a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador in 2014 and she was recently joined by her eldest son, 17-year-old Brooklyn, on an official trip to Kenya.

So many people do good work for charity and get no recognition. Make the Honours system look silly.

Its always been the ORDER of THE BRITISH EMPIRE not 'Officer' and I agree there are far more deserving people who haven't been named and several politicians who after their behaviour this year should have had their OBE's taken back!

Why does she deserve an OBE without her husband she would be nothing!!

I have nothing against her as a woman and mother with a career. Let's face it, whether you like her or not - and i'm not a massive fan - (as I had to point out to my husband) she is a good and respectable mother. How often do you see her in the media, being photographed stumbling out of a club, completely drunk or high on drugs and making a complete fool of herself - never! But there are certain so called 'celebrities' (also supposedly responsible mothers) who we see being photographed week in, week out in varying totally disgraceful 'situations'. Still don't think she warrants an OBE and there are more 'deserving people' but please remember at least she doesn't act like a tramp.

Awarded the OBE "for services to the fashion industry".....What a joke! She endorses fashion designer's work, gets paid stupid money for it and ends up with an OBE!!! Many men and women have risked their lives doing voluntary unpaid famine relief work abroad, getting shot at, kidnapped, raped and threatened with violence and these people don't even get so much as a "thank you" Whereas, "Posh" Beckham just flounces around, pouts and throws a hissy fit if her plane's delayed!

It's a bit like living in some strange fairytale, perhaps Alice in Wonderland, where everything is distorted, especially my perceptions and expectations. Far away, the rich and famous lead extraordinary lives while others are left to starve. These days, I feel disappointed at any of those i used to admire( Posh isn't one of them) accepting these accolades. However, it's all just a media show, like most news.

I would like to complain about Victoria Beckham having an award from the Queen. I think they're a bad example for society, as David ignored his Man Utd manager when asked to concentrate on game he was paid lots of money for, than going along with his wife using him as a way for a talentless celeb career like Kardashians since she can't sing solo but still wants attention. He went to play in LA to use Hollywood stars for attention, but as soon as Olympics started they were back thinking they could use the event for more attention than Olympians who won medals for our country, making us 3rd on medal chart. She was paraded as top designer, but that's embarrassing when most countries have designers who studied or worked in fashion houses. Not chavy wags who suddenly decided they were that for attention. Is the Illuminati real and they know Beckhams are attention seeking and thick enough to want to be involved in helping to dumb down society where the over hyped, talentless and useless are admired over people who do useful things? They're so thick they think it's a good idea to sell kids into celeb industry, to use for their own attention. Now David hasn't won anything at football, and was only one to miss penalty getting us kicked out Euros, he hangs around Prince William at charity events hoping for awards so his wife can keep selling dumb stories to magazines and forcing herself in our faces. They should know since Savile some people use charity as a way for their own benefits.

It is a joke giving an OBE to her, just because she is a friend of royalty why ? When there are so many people that deserve it far more than she does.
