Reba McEntire Returning to Television in New ABC Drama

by VVN Music

Reba McEntire is going back to the small screen with a part in a new drama being developed for ABC by Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives).

Along with being one of country's most enduring female vocalists, McEntire has acted on film, television and Broadway. Her first role was in the 1990 thriller Tremors and she followed with The Gambler Returns: Luck of the Draw, North, Is There Life Out There? and Buffalo Girls. In 2001, she hit the boards on Broadway in the revival of Annie Get Your Gun. Later in the year she began a six year run on the WB with her sitcom Reba and, in 2011, starred in the short run series Malibu County.

According to sources, the new drama will be a southern Gothic soap opera. Reba plays a small-town sheriff on the trail of the perpetrators of a terrorist attack who teams with a middle eastern FBI agent.

The series is, evidently, already beyond the pilot stage with the network already making a script commitment. There had reportedly been a bidding war between networks over the show.

McEntire posted a bit of a teaser on her Facebook account:
