Warren Haynes, Michael McDonald, Jamey Johnson, Don Was & John Medeski to Go On The Last Waltz 40 Tour

by VVN Music

On November 25, 1976, The Band played their last concert at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, CA.

That show, known as The Last Waltz, has been documented in both recorded and motion picture form including performances by Ronnie Hawkins, Dr. John, Bobby Charles, Paul Butterfield, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Neil Diamond, Van Morrison, Ronnie Wood, Bob Dylan, Stephen Stills and Ringo Starr.

At this year's New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Warren Haynes organized a special 40th anniversary tribute concert with a long list of guest artists playing 22 of the 50 songs from that night in 1976. Starting January 21, the magic of that concert will be brought to a new tour with Haynes, Michael McDonald, Jamey Johnson, Don Was, Terence Higgins and John Medeski. In addition, special guests are being promised at certain stops along the tour.

McDonald said of the tour "I’ll never forget the experience of playing these songs with this group of musicians in New Orleans earlier this year. We are celebrating something truly special and I’m honored to be a part of it."

Haynes added "The Last Waltz is a true piece of rock n’ roll history. The music is as soulful, relevant and powerful today as it was 40 years ago. We can’t wait to carry on the legacy of these songs for fans."
