The Earls of Leicester Named Bluegrass' Entertainer of the Year at IBMA Awards

by VVN Music

A collection of veteran musicians who formed a loose collective to play the music of Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, The Earls of Leicester, have been named Bluegrass' Entertainers of the Year.

Made up of Jerry Douglas, Shawn Camp, Charlie Cushman, Jeff White, Johnny Warren and Barry Bales, individual members took home three additional trophies with Dobro Player of the Year (Douglas), Bass Player of the Year (Bales) and Banjo Player of the Year (Cushman).

Claiming an even more impressive list was the band Flatt Lonesome who won for Album of the Year (Runaway Train), Song of the Year (You're the One, written by Dwight Yoakam) and Vocal Group of the Year.

Becky Buller was the other multiple winner, taking Female Vocalist and Fiddle Player of the Year.

Clarence White and Kevin Irwin, Marian Leighton Levy and Bill Nowlin, the founders of Rounder Records, were inducted into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame while Distinguished Achievement Awards went to Sirius/XM Radio's Bluegrass Junction, Bill Emerson, Jim Rooney, Boston Bluegrass Union and Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine.
