Rolling Stones Go Full On Blues on New Album "Blue & Lonesome"

by VVN Music

Well, we didn't get the new Rolling Stones album today as had been rumored, but we did get the announcement for a December 2 release of their new blues album Blue & Lonesome.

Their first studio album in over a decade, Blue & Lonesome was produced by Don Was and the Glimmer Twins (Mick Jagger and Keith Richards) and was recorded over just three days last December at British Grove Studios in West London. The band played live in the studio and used no overdubs for the final product. Along with the core band of Jagger, Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood, the album also features Darryl Jones, Chuck Leavell, Matt Clifford and, on two tracks, Eric Clapton.

Was said of the release "This album is manifest testament to the purity of their love for making music, and the blues is, for the Stones, the fountainhead of everything they do".

Blue & Lonesome will be released as a twelve song CD, deluxe twelve song CD which adds a 75-page mini-book about the making of the album and postcards, two-disc vinyl and digital.
