Desert Trip Starts This Weekend, Here Are the Set Times

by VVN Music

The Desert Trip Festival, being referred to as Oldchella, opens this weekend in Indio, CA at the site of the annual Coachella and Stagecoach Festivals but, unlike those other gatherings, there are only six artists playing at Desert Trip.

The tree day festival will feature two of the biggest acts in rock history each of the three nights starting on Friday, October 7 and running through Sunday, October 9 with a repeat the following weekend, October 14 through 16.

Friday, October 7
  • 6:50 PM - Bob Dylan and his band
  • 9:40 PM - Rolling Stones
Saturday, October 8
  • 6:15 PM - Neil Young and The Promise of the Real
  • 9:15 PM - Paul McCartney
Sunday, October 9
  • 6:15 PM - The Who
  • 9:10 PM - Roger Waters
Gates on each day open at 2 PM.

Word is that there are still tickets available through the secondary market and that the demand has not been big enough for those companies and people to be raising the prices to any significant degree. As the event grows closer, tickets should be able to be purchased at face value or just above.

The organizers seem to be thinking ahead with rules posted on the festival website that specify what can be brought in (i.e. low back chairs only) and where they can be used. A standing pit is directly in front of the stage with reserved seating behind. Grandstand line each side of the venue while a general admission standing and seated area are towards the back.

The seating area is surrounded by bars, restaurants, stores, first aid stands, and more.
