Loretta Lynn Injured in Fall; Cancels Appearances, Will Have Minor Surgery

by VVN Music

Country great Loretta Lynn is cancelling a number of shows to recuperate from a fall she took at her home over the weekend.

Fans coming to Lynn's annual Labor Day show at her ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN were told that the singer had been injured in a fall earlier and the day and would not be appearing. Her sister, Crystal Gayle, took over in Loretta's absence, reading a letter Lynn had written for fans that stated "I injured my chest and can't get a deep enough breath to sing."

On Wednesday (September 7) official word came down that Loretta would be cancelling a series of shows through the middle of September so that she can have minor surgery and recover.

The statement:
American country music legend Loretta Lynn is at home recuperating from a recent fall that left her unable to perform on Labor Day weekend at her ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.

Although her injuries are not serious, she will be undergoing minor surgery and Loretta’s doctors have advised her to stay off the road until she’s made a full recovery.

Regrettably, Loretta will have to postpone the following shows until further notice:

September 9: Renfro Valley Entertainment, Renfro Valley, KY September 10: The Harv at the Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort, Newell, WV September 17: Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, Bristol, TN
Not listed but also cancelled is her September 16 appearance at the Grand Ole Opry.

Lynn's next scheduled appearance is September 23 and 24 at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, TX.
