Fans Trash Richie Sambora Show in Melbourne

by Paul Cashmere, Noise11

Richie Sambora fans have been scathing following a performance in Melbourne for the one-time Bon Jovi guitarist.

Sambora is touring Australia with Adelaide guitarist Orianthi who also played with Michael Jackson and Alice Cooper.

Fans took to the Richie Sambora Facebook page in the dozens to rip the performance apart.

Robyn Webb wrote, “What a disappointment, maybe come on sober next time & maybe some rehearsal might be an idea. The sound was a dirge & we left early. I went to hear Richie Sambora & his amazing solo albums, leave Bon Jovi to Bon Jovi. The rehash of those songs was truly awful. A night to forget.”

According to Wesley Edwards, “The RSO logo on the back of the stage was a give away on how this show would turn out – amateur at best. That thing was designed by a year 7 design student. Pretty sure it was the Orianthi show for the most part. Very disappointing show actually worst gig I’ve been to in recent times. It’s a shame because Richie’s show at the espy 2 years ago was probably one of the best rock gigs I’ve seen”.

Haley Edwards said, “Such a disappointing show. Stick to small gigs like the Espy. Sound was terrible, the band amateur (seen a tighter band at my local pub!) Richie didn’t even sing half the words to the songs. Get off the Bonjovi train and show us your amazing solo work. Unfortunately won’t be buying tickets to see you perform again”.

A bit of what Paul Crea said was:

Dear Richie Sambora,

You’re a drunk, old, has been Rockstar and your Meatloaf type performance was a fucking train wreck!1
I’m pretty sure that your singing and guitar playing…

The sound was shit.
The lighting was shit.
You couldn’t even see half of the stage in Margaret Court Arena which is tiny!
The biting comments continued … from Jo Vermeend, “So sad, second time trying and second time disappointed. Not even so much about the show. I bought meet and greet for a reason and it wasn’t to watch your manager roll his eyes and make smart remarks about how long everyone was taking. It wasn’t to stand in lines for more time than the show went for and It wasn’t to hear your manager say people were getting illegal autographs either. He needs to remember who makes you guys rock”.

From Josie Masucci, “RSO- I’m not sure if I’m happy I only paid $55, or regret paying that! I have never witnessed RS in that state. Disappointing and heartbreaking. He will never be a frontman with dignity preforming like that. He had it good being in a structured band! Looks like he needs it! He has 3 great solo albums and not nearly enough was played! Just the one song?….Never thought is say it, Ori held that shit together.. props where it’s due!”

The Melbourne show was the second RSO show for Sambora and Orianthi after Adelaide the night before.
