Don't Get Excited, There's No Daft Punk Tour Planned

by VVN Music

Leave it to the internet to get everyone excited with unfounded rumors.

Somebody on Reddit found a hidden page on the Lollapalooza website over the weekend that was dedicated to Daft Punk. Fans immediately took it as a sign that the band would be playing next year's festival.

Adding to the fan's hope is the fact that Daft Punk has only toured twice in their career, in 1997 and 2006/2007, so 2017 would keep the pattern going.

Unfortunately, it looks like all the excitement is premature. Both Pitchfork and Consequences of Sound are reporting that they have been told that no tour is being planned.  "An industry source tells Consequence of Sound that Daft Punk has no plans to perform live next summer."

Daft Punk released their first single, The New Wave, in 1994 and have since released four studio albums along with their soundtrack for the movie Tron: Legacy. The fourth of those albums, Random Access Memories, went to number 1 in most countries around the world and won the Grammy for Album of the Year.
