Zydeco great Buckwheat Zydeco has been diagnosed with lung cancer.
This is not the first health issue for Zydeco but it definitely his biggest battle and has kept him off the concert stage since April. The following was recently posted on his Facebook account.
Our fearless leader, Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural, Jr. has been resolutely dealing with a number of health issues this year. Now he is in a battle with lung cancer. I have known and worked with Buck for thirty years and I can tell you he is the toughest hombre I have ever met. I visited Buck and his family recently and he is fighting back like the champ he is.A GoFundMe page has been established to help Buckwheat and his family deal with this new crisis.
But he needs your prayers, thoughts and best wishes. He also needs your help. His daughter, Tomorrow Dural, has created a fundraising campaign https://www.gofundme.com/2khuzztk as he has not been able to work since April and the family is dealing with mounting medical bills. To add to the distress, their home was damaged in the catastrophic flooding in the area. Please remember all the wonderful, fun, exciting times we’ve all spent together and send him your best wishes and support. Thanks everyone!

In 1979, he released his debut album, One For the Road, and has since put out over twenty more including his latest, 2009's Lay Your Burdon Down (Alligator Records).
