  • 1961 - Bob Dylan made his New York debut at the Gaslight Cafe.
  • 1963 - Cilla Black signed a management contract with Brian Epstein.
  • 1963 - Jerry Lee Lewis left Sun Records for Smash Records.
  • 1967 - The Bob Dylan documentary  Don't Look Back  premiered in New York.
  • 1969 - James Brown announced he would retire from live performing in July 1970.

  • 2004 - Rapper Twista is injured in a car accident that kills his friend and bodyguard Arthur Dixon.
  • 2006 - Victor Willis of the Village People was sentenced to three years probation for drug possession.
  • 2008 - Members of the band Great White agreed to pay the survivors and the families of victims of the The Station night club fire $1 million.
  • 2010 - Jane's Addiction announced that Duff McKagan was no longer a member of the band. He had only been with them for five months.
  • 2011 - A judge ruled that Madonna had no claim to the name "Material Girl".
  • 2012 - Vince Gill received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
