Skillet Gets Third Top Four Review in a Row

by VVN Music

The Christian rock band Skillet makes it three top five debuts in a row on the Billboard 200 with their latest, Unleashed.

The new album debuts at number 3, one spot better than their last album, 2013's Rise but one spot below their all-time best, 2009's Awake which went to number 2.

The group, which formed and released their first album in 1996, has gone through a number of lineup changes with lead vocalist John Cooper being the only original member still with the band.

Unleashed is also at the top of the Hard Rock and Christian Album charts.

Going the other way, Dinosaur Jr has fallen off the pace of their last two releases with their new album Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not. The album opens this week at 72, the band's lowest since 1997. This is their fourth studio album in the last decade with 2009's Farm setting the pace, peaking at 29. 2012's I Bet the Sky went to 51 and 2007's Beyond to 69.

Elvis Presley's archive release, Way Down in the Jungle Room, collecting some of his final studio recordings, debuts at 79.  That's far lower than his last major release, 2015's If I Can Dream, which peaked at 21.

Gov't Mule are in at 104 with their album of early career recordings, The Tri-Star Sessions. That falls right in line with their last two albums, Dark Side of the Mule (2014 / #99) and Sco-Mule (2015 / #96).

Finally, at 181, is the premier of Rowyco by Jackyl.  Their last album, 2012's Best in Show, went to number 84.
