Former UFO Bassist Pete Way Suffers Heart Attack

by VVN Music

Pete Way, who was the original bassist for UFO, has suffered a heart attack and a blood clot in the lungs according to his wife.

Jenny Way released a statement saying:
My husband Pete Way has collapsed after a short business trip to Germany and is currently in hospital. He has had a heart attack and a blood clot has been found on his lung. Needless to say, I am in bits, but Pete is fighting like he always does. We are NOT going to lose another one. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
No further information on his condition has been released.

Way, 65, was a member of UFO from its inception in 1969 until 1982 when he became disillusioned with the band's push into more commercial material. He formed the band Waysted with whom he played until he rejoined a reworked UFO in 1992.

In 2009, Way was diagnosed with prostate cancer and left the band for treatment. After he recovered, he began playing with Michael Schenker including his albums Tales of Rock'n'Roll and Temple of Rock. Way is also expected to release a new solo album, Walking on the Edge, later this year.
