Vintage Video: Mr. Excitement Jackie Wilson on Shindig (1964 & 1965)

by VVN Music

Fifty one years ago tonight (June 30, 1965) ABC aired the latest edition of their music show Shindig! with Jerry Lee Lewis, Chad & Jeremy, the Righteous Brothers, Glen Campbell and the great Jackie Wilson.

During its run, Wilson made three appearances on Shindig!, the first on October 21, 1964 where he sang She's Alright and Baby Workout; March 24, 1965, performing Danny Boy, Gonna Mess Up a Good Thing with Shirley Ellis and Sing; and June 30, 1965, singing Shake Shake, That's Why (I Love You So), No Pity in the Naked City and I'm So Lonely.

Wilson was rightfully called "Mr. Excitement" for his stage presence. Here are two videos that consolidate many of his performances over the appearances on Shindig!
