King Crimson, Dream Theater & Big Big Train Lead Progressive Music Awards Nominations

by VVN Network

For the fifth year, Britain's Prog magazine has nominated the best in progressive music for their Progressive Music Awards.

With seven of the fourteen awards voted by the public (go here), the Progressive Music Awards salute the veterans of the genre as well as those just making their first impact.

Three veteran groups, King Crimson, Dream Theater and Big Big Train lead with three nominations each while a group of ten artists, including Steven Wilson, Opeth, Riverside and TesseracT each have two.

Jerry Ewing, the editor of Prog Magazine, said "Prog's biggest night of the year is back! I'm delighted Matthew [Wright] will be joining us again as host, as we honour the great and good of the progressive music world. But this is an event that is as much for prog fans as it is the artists themselves, they have the ultimate say in who wins the accolades on the night and need to make sure their voice is heard by voting, and remember, by casting their vote, they are in with the chance of winning an incredible goodie bag."

The awards will be held on Thursday, September 1 at the Underglobe at the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London.
