New Ann Wilson Thing Album to Be Out Late June, New Heart in Mid-July

by VVN Music

There's a lot of Ann Wilson coming out this summer. The problem is, we don't yet have a lot of detail.

Wilson posted a new blog on her website talking about a number of projects with nothing terribly firm on any of them. After talking quite a bit on traveling around the country in an RV with her husband Dean, she said that the second The Ann Wilson Thing! EP, Focus, had been submitted to the record company and should be out at the end of June.

This is actually Ann's third solo effort. She released her solo debut, Hope and Glory, in 2006 and the first The Ann Wilson Thing EP last year.

Then, in mid July, Heart will release a new album, Beautiful Broken. While Ann was not more specific about a date, Amazon is listing July 8 for the CD and July 29 for the vinyl of the set. Both are out via Concord Records.

According to Wilson, Beautiful is a "collection of rerecords with some new songs" Neither the Concord Records site nor Amazon are providing a track list at this point (Concord doesn't even list Heart as one of their artists) but HeartLinker.com has one that may or may not be in final order:

  • Beautiful Broken (original recording on the Best Buy Deluxe Edition of Fanatic, 2012)
  • City's Burning (original recording on Private Audition, 1982)
  • Sweet Darlin' (original recording on Bebe le Strange, 1980)
  • One Word (original recording on Private Audition, 1982)
  • Johnny Moon (original recording on Passionworks, 1983)
  • Language of Love (original recording on Passionworks, 1983)
  • Heaven (played on Alive in America tour but no studio release)
  • Sand (recorded twice for studio albums but never released)
  • Down on Me (original recording on Bebe le Strange, 1980)
  • Two (New)
  • Jump (New)
Heart has a number of June and early July dates including three nights at House of Blues in Las Vegas and four British shows before starting their The Rock Hall Three For All tour with Cheap Trick and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts which runs July 14 through September 23.

Then, according to Ann, The Ann Wilson Thing will "reconvene, starting with dates in Florida in September."

As for the future, "I can see TAWT and Heart merging creatively, to bring all the good things both groups have to one performance. I can see Heart returning to its idealistic roots, and TAWT bringing its depth and musicality to the table...and those lyrics!"
