  • 1952 - The Royals, who would become Hank Ballard and the Midnighters, signed with Federal Records. 
  • 1955 - Elvis Presley had most of his clothes torn off at a concert in Jacksonville, FL. It was the first time a frenzy had broken out at one of his shows. 
  • 1966 - The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band played live for the first time in Orange, CA.
  • 1968 - John Lennon and Paul McCartney did an interview tour to publicize the newly formed Apple Corps, Inc. 
  • 1970 - The Beatles documentary Let It Be premiered in New York.
  • 1971 - Grace Slick of the Jefferson Airplane drove her car into a wall near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. The band was forced to postpone recording on their new album. 
  • 1974 - 43 people were arrested and over fifty were injured outside a Jackson 5 concert in Washington, DC. 
  • 1996 - Oasis sold 330,000 tickets for their summer tour in nine hours making them the fastest selling group in U.K. history to that date.
