Weezer's "White Album" Debuts at 4 in U.S.; Cheap Trick's Best in 28 Years; Three Merle Haggard Collections Chart For the First Time

Weezer's new self titled album, also known as the White Album, debuts at number 4 this week giving the group their eighth straight top ten debut.

  • Maladroit (2002 / #3)
  • Make Believe (2005 / #2)
  • Weezer (Red Album) (2008 / #4)

  • Hurley (2010 / #6)

Debuting at 31 is the Big Machine Records debut for Cheap Trick, Bang, Zoom, Crazy...Hello. It is the highest the band has been on Billboards Top 200 in 28 years dating back to 1988's Lap of Luxury which went to 16.

Andrew Bird, who got his start in the mid-90's guesting with Squirrel Nut Zippers, opens at 50 with Are You Serious. It's his fifth album to make the Top 200 including Mom + Pop Music which peaked at 10 in 2012.

The Pet Shop Boys come up quite short with the number 58 premier of their new album, Super. Their last three albums have charted better including 2013's Electric which started at 26. In the U.S., only their debut, Please, made the top ten.

Three Merle Haggard compilations make the top 200 for the first time in the wake of his passing. At 75 is 20 Greatest Hits, at 88 is 40 Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 and at 139 is The Essential Merle Haggard: The Epic Years
