Deftones Debut at 2 in the U.S., Tie Their Highest Chart Position

The Deftones are officially at number 2 in the U.S. this week on the Billboard 200 with their new album, Gore.  This is their fifth trip to the top ten out of eight studio albums and their second time at number 2 after 2003's Deftones.

Zakk Wylde has the second highest debut of the week for a veteran artist with Book of Shadows II which starts at 18. His solo debut, 1996's Book of Shadows, debuted at 32.

One spot behind Wylde is Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals with Call It What It Is. Harper's thirteenth studio album and fourth with the Innocent Criminals does better than his last two albums, Get Up! with Charlie Musselwhite (2013 / #27) and Childhood Home with his mother, Ellen Harper (2014 / #43). Harper's highest charting album was 2006's Both Sides of the Gun which peaked at number 7.

Peter Wolf starts at 144 with A Cure For Loneliness, which is a large drop from his previous set Midnight Souvenirs (2010 / #45). Peter's best performance on the charts was his solo debut, Lights Out (1984 / #24). Of course, he's had a great deal of chart success as the lead singer of the J. Geils Band.

At 151 is the new album from Filter, Crazy Eyes. Their seventh studio album since 1995, it is also the lowest charting and the first not to make the top 100.
