AXS TV to Air Programming Saluting Merle Haggard This Weekend

Yesterday, we told you how AXS TV will be doing extensive coverage of four music festivals over the next two months.

This coming weekend, the lifestyle channel will turn over a number of hours of their programming to salute the late Merle Haggard who passed away on Wednesday.

The centerpiece of the salute will be three showings of Dan Rather's The Big Interview with Haggard. According to AXS:
For more than 50 years Haggard has been singing a style of country western music that he helped pioneer. Haggard rarely grants interviews but before a performance at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts in North Carolina, Haggard sat down for an extended conversation with Dan Rather, speaking candidly about everything from his time in prison to his politics, touring with Bob Dylan, and his biggest fear in life.
The Big Interview will air on Friday, April 8 at 11:30 AM ET, Saturday, April 9 at 9 AM ET and Sunday, April 10 at 8 AM ET.

On Friday at 12:30 PM ET, the network will air Merle Haggard: Live at Billy Bob's Texas which includes performances of some of the singer's best known songs including Mama Tried, The Fightin' Side of Me, I Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink and Okie From Muskogee.

Merle Haggard: Live at Billy Bob's Texas will be repeated on Saturday at 10 AM ET.

AXS TV is available on both Dish and DirecTV satellite services along with Charter Communications, Insight Communications, Mediacom, Suddenlink, Verizon FIOS and AT&T U-verse cable systems.
