Gwen Stefani Gets First Number 1 Album; Iggy Pop Starts at 17, Beating Previous High by 55 Positions

It's a big week for both Gwen Stefani and Iggy Pop on the U.S. Albums chart.

Stefani, who had previously reached number 1 with her band No Doubt with Tragic Kingdom, makes the top of the Billboard 100 for the first time as a solo artist with This is What the Truth Feels Like.

As in England, Iggy Pop has blown away every other record he has released, both as a member of the Stooges and as a solo artist, with Post Pop Depression's debut at number 17. His previous bests in the U.S. were the 1977 album The Idiot which went to 72, the 1986 album Blah Blah Blah (#90) and the 1990 set Brick by Brick (#90). The 2013 Stooges' album Ready to Die was the band's best, peaking at 96.

Iggy also has the number 1 Rock and Alternative albums this week. 

Only one other album by a veteran artist debuts this week and that is all the way down at 200. Underworld chart for the sixth time in the U.S. with Barbara Barbara We Face a Shining Future. Their highest charting album was 1999's Beaucoup Fish at 93. Barbara tops the Electronic/Dance Albums chart. 

A Tribe Called Quest return two albums to the Billboard 200 in the wake of the passing of Phife Dawg. The Anthology returns at 109 and The Low End Theory at 121.
