David Bowie, Patti Smith, Blur, Dave Grohl Honored at the NME Awards

The NME Awards definitely ran very modern on Thursday night in London with big wins going to The Maccabees, Run the Jewels, Charlie XCX, Taylor Swift and Wolf Alice.

The Maccabees took Best British Band and Charlie XCX won Best British Solo Artist while the international versions of those awards went to Run the Jewels and Taylor Swift. The Foals were given Best Album for What Went Down, Wolf Alice won Best Track for Giant Peach and Best Video went to Slaves for Cheer Up London.

Veteran artists were honored in three voted and one selected categories. The Best Music Film of the Year was Blur: New World Tours, Best Reissue was David Bowie's Five Years and Best Book went to M Train by Patti Smith. Dave Grohl was selected by the magazine editors for Hero of the Year.
