  • 1977 - Led Zeppelin is forced to cancel the first date of their world tour after Robert Plant develops tonsillitis.
  • 1984 - A Pepsi commercial with the Jacksons debuts on MTV.
  • 1990 - Rob Pilatus of Milli Vanilli told Time magazine “Musically, we're more talented than any Bob Dylan or Paul McCartney. Mick Jagger can't produce a sound. I'm the new Elvis."
  • 1991 - James Brown is released from prison after serving two-years of a six-year sentence for resisting arrest after a car chase.
  • 2001 - Carlos Santana returns to his boyhood home town of Autlan De Navarro, Mexico where he is presented with a plaque, he is given the key to the town and a street is named after him.
  • 2002 - LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Robinson sue their former group, Destiny's Child, saying that the lyrics for Survivor have disparaging remarks against them.
  • 2003 - Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Gary Rossington has emergency heart surgery.
  • 2004 - Police were called to an Aspen, CO supermarket by a worker who saw a man in a mask. It turned out to be Michael Jackson.
  • 2007 - Bobby Brown received 30 days in jail for $19,000 in unpaid child support.
  • 2010 - Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy was named a spokesman for UNICEF.
