Elvis Misses Unseating Adele in the U.K. by 3,300 in Sales, Stays at Number 2

Elvis Presley's amazing run near the top of the British Albums charts continues this week even though he wasn't able to garner enough sales to push Adele out of number 1.

At mid-week, Presley was so close to 25 that some thought he could move back to the top of the charts but, when the final numbers were tallied, he remained 3,300 behind giving him his fourth straight week at number 2. Ten weeks into If I Can Dream's run, he has now spent two weeks at number 1, six at number 2 and two at number 3.

Bryan Adams performed on the BBC on New Year's Eve from Big Ben, sending his albums back up the charts. His The Best of Me reenters at number 20 while his latest album, Get Up, jumps 87 to 26.

Overall, only one new album made the British charts this week (Rachel Platten at 52) as the early year doldrums settle in for a few weeks.

On the singles chart, the campaign to make Motorhead's Ace of Spades a number 1 record in tribute to the late Lemmy Kilmister came up short; however, the song did reenter the charts at number 13.
