His album Blackstar stays at number 1 for the third week while Best of Bowie remains at number 3 and Nothing Has Changed moves up from 6 to 5. He also has twelve albums in the top 40 which ties a record set by Elvis Presley in 1977 right after his death.

It is also a banner week for veteran artists in or near the top ten. While Bowie has five of the top twelve albums this week, there are a number of other veteran artists who are also flying high on the charts.

Veteran rockers Suede debut at 6 with their new album Night Thoughts. It is their highest charting album in Britain since 1999's Head Music which topped the charts.

Megedeth premiers at 11 with Dystopia which gives them their best chart position in 22 years going back to 1994's Youthanasia which went to number 6. They have released eight other studio albums between Youthanasia and Dystopia

Steven Wilson's EP 4-1/2 opens at number 21, a bit of a drop from his last album Hand.Cannot.Erase (2015 / #13). Of his five studio albums/EPs, 4-1/2 is his second highest charting.

At 33 is the debut of Lucinda Williams' The Ghosts of Highway 20 which is, like Wilson, a slight drop from her previous album, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone (2014 / #23). For Williams, it's her third highest charting studio album in Britain behind Bone and West (2007 / #30).
