Artists Respond to the Death of Natalie Cole
Note: This story has been edited numerous times to add new comments.
It took very little time for music artists to start reacting on social media to the death of Natalie Cole.
Along with being a superb singer, Cole also was a good friend to many in the industry and was both an influence or mentor to even more.
I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Natalie Cole, as I have cherished the long friendship I had with her, her father Nat, and the family over the years. Natalie was an exceptional jazz singer and it was an honor to have recorded and performed with her on several occasions. She was a lovely and generous person who will be greatly missed.Lenny Kravitz:

What a terrible loss to the music world! I had the pleasure of knowing Natalie Cole for many years. She graciously performed at my 50th Anniversary tribute in Lincoln Center back in 2007. Her records were impeccable. She was the great combination of Blues, Jazz and the Great American Songbook. She will always be remembered as a supreme professional and perfectionist at her craft. Thankfully, we still have those wonderful recordings that will keep her legacy alive. Truly “Unforgettable”. My sympathies and condolences to her family.America:

Very sad to hear the news about Natalie Cole. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing her for over 20 years. I’ve also had the pleasure of Interpreting a few songs originally done by her. A big thrill for me was hearing her tell me she enjoyed my version of “Inseparable” and more recently I covered “LaCosta” so long before we were friends I was a fan. This musical Icon from Musical Royalty will be missed. Her contribution to the industry will always be remembered. May she Rest In Peace-Will Downing
I am so sad to hear about Natalie Cole's passing. I feel she has always been apart of my life in many ways. Before the craziness & now. Her father, Nat King Cole, is my favorite artist of all time. 'Smile' is a song I sing to myself whenever things get overwhelming. I sang 'This Will Be' on the American Idol tour w/ @mdoolittle, my favorite part of that show. A few years later, I had the honor of actually singing it with her on stage. I don't remember what I sounded like, I was too much in awe of her. But, I sure remember her standing next to me, voice so pure & clear as a bell. I will never ever forget that moment. She was always so kind & exuded so much grace. Rest in everlasting love. I'm sure the heavens are absolutely loving you and your dad rejoicing together. 'Unforgettable in every way....' That you are, Natalie, that you are.India.Arie:
