Madonna Rants at Fans After They Booed Her Being Late; Explanation is Totally Legit

Madonna went on a bit of a foul mouthed rant at fans in Manchester on Monday night after she hit the stage an hour late, but there was a very legitimate reason for the situation.

According to a Facebook post by the singer, the computer with all the video for her show and many of the lighting cues crashed and the crew discovered that their backup file was corrupt leaving them with no way to properly put on the show. Her explanation:
"FACTS: its good to have them before you jump to conclusions! The Entire video for my show crashed as I arrived for sound check. The back up file was corrupt. We had no choice but to reboot and pray for a good outcome. The video lights 75 % of my show. We cant play in the dark. We were rebooted and ready by 9:30 even though we planned to go ion earlier. I had to make cuts in show before show started. Dress you Up was one of them and my 3rd guitar song. This still brought us past the 11:00 curfew! But we went on and the venue was kind enough to extend till 111:39!! It was there choice not mine to end the show!! always want to finish. So we all missed the last 3 songs! And I'm sorry about that. And i thank all my Rebel Heart fans for understanding! We did our best! And we still had to pay a fine! That life. :). PS you still got to see an amazing show. And only missed. 12 minutes!! The ❤ ‪#‎rebelhearttour‬ goes on" -Madonna
Fans, though, received Madonna's wrath at the opening of the show as the singer took them to task for continuing to boo her. "I don't like to be late by the way, alright? And all you b*****s who keep complaining about it can shut the f**k up. I'm not back there eating chocolate, filing my nails and getting my extensions done alright? The video crashed. We had no video and we had to wait until we could reboot. No selfish diva b**** reason. If you diva b****es want to keep complaining about it don't come to my show."

Concertgoers, though, were not only unhappy about the late start but also because there was no announcement and no explanation prior to Madonna's rant. "Over 50mins late at Manchester Arena and no announcements. Not acceptable. People have jobs to go to @Madonna,"; "Thousand's of people waiting Manchester Arena, and still your too lazy to tell us what's going on!".

A perfect example of what happens when you rely far too heavily on technology and special effects, to put on a live music performance. It all becomes too synchronized, timed to exactitude, too precise, and leaves zero room for spontaneity and surprises. Whatever happened to just putting on a show? Marlene Dietrich, Judy Garland, Ethyl Waters, Billy Holiday, Peggy Lee, Dinah Washington, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield and so many female singers after them, did exceptional live performances- not a computer in sight. Sad that too many of today's singers don't have the ability to repeat that special magic!
