Huey Lewis and the News Mourn Loss of Sound Mixer Jim "Bugsy" Moran

The members of Huey Lewis and the News are mourning the loss of long time engineer and sound mixer Jim Moran.

The following statement was posted on their Facebook:
It is with great sadness we tell you that we have lost one of the most special members of our group. Jim Moran died peacefully yesterday morning after a courageous two year battle with cancer.

"Bugsy" was an inspiration to all of us. He was the most hard working, talented sound mixer and engineer that you could imagine.

He was with us since the beginning.

He will be dearly missed.

Our hearts go out to his family.
While a complete list of Moran's credits was not readily available, it is known that he did mixing on such albums as Fore! and Small World and did mixing on a number of the band's tours.

Jimmy was the best, that giant smile of his lit up every room he walked into, and made it a better place to be, always. Spent many happy days working with him, can't believe he's moved on from this lifetime, and I won't see him here anymore. I will miss you my friend......

I am so sorry to hear this. Bugsy worked for us (Suave Sound in San Jose)when he first came to California around 1979 or 1980. I will never forget seeing him walk out to the truck with a bloody lip once and I asked what happened, "I got the shit kicked out of me by a roll of duct tape!!" We did a LOT of fun gigs together and he spent a lot of nights on our couch at house which he referred to as "Hotel Bill" He was one of many guys we brought onto our crew and trained them well only to have one of the bands we worked with scoop them up! (this time it was Huey)

He was a wonderful father! I love you dad. See you again one day at the great gig in the sky.
