Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie Are the Third Highest Paid Women in Music

Among the many lists that are published by Forbes every year ranking the top celebrities financially is the Top Earning Women in Music.

The magazine recently released their newest list saluting the ladies and the top two are no surprise except, possibly, for the order. Katy Perry out earned Taylor Swift on this years list with Perry bringing in $135 million while Swift has made $80 million. The two are in a rumored feud after Perry reportedly stole one of Swift's dancers for a tour with many saying that Swift wrote her hit Bad Blood in response to the incident.

The big surprise, though, comes at number 3 on the list which Forbes lists as "Fleetwood Mac" but is, in fact, the two women in the band, Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie. They are listed as making $59.5 million, almost entirely from their On With the Show tour.

The only other veteran artist to make the top ten was Mariah Carey at number 9 with $27 million although the magazine lists both Madonna and Celine Dion as "near misses".

The top ten:

  1. Katy Perry ($135 million)
  2. Taylor Swift ($80 million)
  3. Fleetwood Mac ($59.5 million)
  4. Lady Gaga ($59 million)
  5. Beyonce ($54.5 million)
  6. Britney Spears ($31 million)
  7. Jennifer Lopez ($28.5 million)
  8. Miranda Lambert ($28.5 million)
  9. Mariah Carey ($27 million)
  10. Rihanna ($26 million)

Are these figures strictly for earnings during a specific 12-month fiscal year? It would be more informative to look at a longer interval.
