Andrea Bocelli Has Highest Debuting Album by a Veteran Artists; Rod Stewart & Harry Connick Jr Hit Worst in 14 Years

Andrea Bocelli scores his fifth top ten studio album in the U.S. and has the top debut by a veteran artist with Cinema, which debuts at number 10.

Overall, Bocelli has released nine non-classical studio albums, seven of which have charted in America:
  • Sogno (1999 / #4)
  • Amore (2006 / #3)
  • My Christmas (2009 / #2)
  • Passione (2013 / #2)
  • Cinema (2015 / #10)
In addition, his classical album Incanto (2008) peaked at number 8, the compilation The Best of Andrea Bocelli: Vivere (2007) at 9 and the live album Concerto: One Night in Central Park (2011) at 4, giving him a total of eight top ten albums, very much a rarity in the U.S. for a primarily classical artist.

The news is not as good for Rod Stewart. His Another Country debuts at number 20 making it his first studio album to not go top ten since 2001's Human. Of course, this was the period where Stewart achieved a renewed popularity with his covers albums including his five Great American Songbook sets, his rock classics album, his soul music covers (Soulbook) and a holiday album. The one exception during this time was the 2013 album Time, which returned him to original material after twelve years, which opened at number 7.

At 47 is That Would Be Me by Harry Connick Jr. As with Stewart, it is his lowest charting vocal album since 2001's Songs I Heard

Former Statler Brothers member Jimmy Fortune premiers at 156 with Hits & Hymns, his first solo album to make the top 200.
