Janet Jackson Falls From Top Ten After Two Weeks; Stryper Has Highest (and Only) Veteran Debut

Janet Jackson's run in the top ten with her new album ends after just two weeks as Unbreakable falls from 8 to 14. The album debuted at number 1 two weeks ago.

The news is not good for Jackson who is seeing sales deteriorate quickly much like other veteran female vocalists like Mariah Carey have seen with their latest projects. Fan excitement supports the albums in their first week but there isn't much carry through in the following frames. Unbreakable even had a number 1 hit on the Adult R&B chart, No Sleeep, but that doesn't seem to be translating to album sales.

The only veteran artist with a new album this week is Christian metal band Stryper whose Fallen opens at number 44. That puts the album in the middle of Stryper's eleven studio albums with four having done better in the past, all reaching between 30 and 40. Both To Hell With the Devil (1986) and In God We Trust (1988) peaked at number 32.

The top five albums this week:
  1. Pentatonix - Pentatonix
  2. Confident  - Demi Lovato
  3. Beauty Behind the Madness - The Weeknd
  4. General Admission - Machine Gun Kelly
  5. Fetty Wap - Fetty Wap

  2. Hotline Bling - Drake
  3. What Do You Mean? - Justin Bieber
  4. Stitches - Shawn Mendes
