Close to You: Bacharach Reimagined is going big time on London's West End.
Conceived by Kyle Riabko, the show sees the singer/guitarist perform his unique, soulful arrangements of the Bacharach songbook with an eclectic group of young musicians and performers. Per press, it is a "re-introduction to the timeless music of Bacharach through the eyes and ears of a new generation."
Riabko was born in Saskatoon, Canada and spent his teen years opening for such artists as BB King, James Brown, Buddy Guy, Keb Mo, Jason Mraz and John Mayer, among others. He went on to star in the Broadway show Spring Awakening and tour with the national company before moving on to the revival of Hair.
More recently, he created the Bacharach show, with Burt's blessing, which played at the New York Theatre Workshop, the acclaimed Off Broadway theatre where such Broadway bound hits as Once, Rent, and Peter and the Starcatcher all originated. Kyle not only stars but was responsible for all the musical arrangements.
On Friday night, Close to You opened at London's Criterion Theatre where tickets are currently on sale for performances through January 10.
