After a five year legal battle, Bobby Blotzer has won the rights to use the name Ratt.
WBS, Inc., the company which owns the Ratt name, was originally formed by Blotzer, singer Stephen Pearcy and guitarist Warren DeMartini. Pearcy was forced to give up his share in the company in 2000 when he first left the band. Pearcy did return in 2006 but left again last year.
That left DeMartini and Blotzer with the rights to the name but DeMartini didn't want to keep the band together if Pearcy was not part of it.
On Wednesday, the band announced their plans via a press release and on the Ratt Facebook page:

Blotzer is not an original member of Ratt, joining in 1982, the fifth in a series of drummers; however, he does appear on all of the band's albums. The lineup for their debut album, 1984's Out of the Cellar, was Pearcy, DeMartini and Blotzer along with Robbin Crosby on guitar and Juan Croucier on bass. Croucier was with the band from 1982 to 1992 and 2012 until the formation of this new band. Crosby was in Ratt from 1981 to 1991.
