Bon Jovi Battles the Boy Bands at 26th Annual Kid's Choice Awards

When the nominations were announced on Wednesday for the 26th Annual Kid's Choice Awards, all the expected artists were named from One Direction to Justin Bieber. What stood out was the nomination for one veteran artist among the boy band club.

Bon Jovi will compete against Big Time Rush, One Direction and the more mature Maroon 5 for Favorite Music Group. It's not entirely clear how the veterans got their name on the ballot as they have been on hiatus for over a year unless it somehow has to do with the publicity for their upcoming new album and tour.

Also a bit curious is the nomination of Blake Shelton for Favorite Male Singer. Shelton is famous for his off-color Twitter posts and his Christmas special included a cartoon segment where two hunters went out and killed various Disney characters.

The awards show airs March 23 on Nickelodeon. Here are the music nominations:
