Reba McEntire Ends Run of 13 Straight Years as Host of ACM Awards

Reba McEntire is stepping away as the host of the annual Academy of Country Music Awards, a position she has held every year since 1999.

Overall, McEntire has hosted 14 times including once in 1986. The past two years she has co-hosted with Blake Shelton who will continue in the position for the 2013 awards.

Bob Romeo, CEO of the Academy, said "Reba has hosted the ACM Awards a record 14 times since 1986, and we fully understand and support her decision to focus her energies on her new television project. We've known about this for a while and have something very special planned with Blake returning -- he's got something big up his sleeve -- that we'll be announcing soon."

Reba herself told Country Weekly "[I've] passed the torch to Blake. I'm a huge Blake Shelton fan."

McEntire's new comedy, Malibu Country, debuts on November 2 at 8:30 PM on ABC.
