Jimmy Buffett Given OK to Build Casino in Louisiana
The Margaritaville brand is about to get even bigger as Jimmy Buffett has been given the thumbs up to build a $197 million casino in Bossier City, LA.
Construction of the Margaritaville Resort Casino will start immediately and finish in June 2013.
The 18-story building will include 396 rooms, a 900-seat venue, 1300 slot machines and 46 table games.
A feature will be Buffett’s famous ‘It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere’ bar.
The Margaritaville Resort Casino will be the third and largest Margaritaville-themed casino for Buffett. He also has one venue already open in Las Vegas and another soon to open in Biloxi, Mississippi.

I'm a Jimmy Buffet fan, but the scantness of the reporting here leaves me asking, "How can he have table games without a riverboat license, which isn't mentioned in the article? Aren't those supposed to be all gone?" Recall that Harrah's was promised the state's only land casino, except for truck stop casinos which are limited to video poker. The only other acknowledged exceptions at that time were Indian casinos which are federal, so there was nothing to be done about them. Then incrementally, in classic Louisiana politics style, the double-cross set in: riverboats no longer had to cruise, racetracks could have slot machines, now this, whatever it is. What's the deal?
Why Bossier City? I would think he should put one here, (metro NO), before going there.
Are you kidding! NOLA would lose big time money
No, Bossier City is the most lucrative casino market in Louisiana hands down, so that's where they need to be, from a business standpoint. I think I've figured out how they did it, without new legislation: Isle of Capri must be in this deal. Isle of Capri had two casino boats, the Isle and the Crown, in Westlake, in the Lake Charles market. Each boat comes with a license, and can have table games. Within the last few days it has been announced, and this was pending for some time, that Isle of Capri was moving one of its boats to Bossier. One of the two boats was inside the Westlake city limits and paid city taxes, so guess which one they're moving. This says it was a sale. http://www.lvrj.com/business/isle-of-capri-completes-sale-of-louisiana-riverboat-casino-139146294.html?ref=294 I'll bet that's how Margaritaville gets 46 table games: they'll be on that boat.
