Best of 2011: The Last Word ... The Village Voice's Pazz & Jop Poll

Once again, the Village Voice has polled almost 700 members of the media and the industry to assemble the most wide-reaching list of the best albums and singles of the year.

On the album side, almost 2,000 different LPs received votes with tUnE-yArDs' whokill taking the top spot and Tom Waits' Bad as Me being the highest veteran artist on the list at number 5. It is also notable that the very derisive album Lulu by Lou Reed and Metallica came in a very respectable number 94.

For singles, over 2,200 tracks received mention with, as on so many other lists, Adele's Rolling in the Deep at number 1. For veterans, you have to go all the way down to 68 for the remix version of I'll Take Care of You by the late Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie xx.
