2012 London Olympics Speculation Includes Performances by Paul and Ringo

The opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics are always showcases for the country where the games are being held and London is looking to continue that tradition. Enter Paul McCartney who drops a few hints to add to rumors Paul and his former bandmate Ringo Starr might get involved.

Paul was appearing on an American television show when he was quizzed about what was happening, and nodded throughout questions. He then seemed to backtrack slightly, apparently after realising he might have given the game away.

"I met the guy who knows the guy who's going to ask somebody about it soon," British newspaper The Sun quotes him as saying.

"I hear there's a rumour that I might be involved. I hear they're planning this [The Beatles] sort of music."

It is thought organisers have been keen to get Paul and Ringo on board for some time. Although Paul is playing his cards close to his chest, sources indicate the pair have already agreed to wow crowds during next year's event.

"[He] was just being coy about the details. He has been speaking to organisers and has said he'd love to be involved with the games in some way," an insider told the publication.

"The organisers want The Beatles legend to appear alongside other big British acts. And they want Ringo on stage as well to make it extra special."

Paul and Ringo were in the band with John Lennon and George Harrison, who have both died. Organisers are said to be considering asking their kids to perform in their place, although it's unknown if that plan will go ahead.

Other acts rumoured to be playing at the London 2012 Olympic Games are The Rolling Stones and the Spice Girls.
