Strait & McEntire Pick Up CMA Nominations
The Country Music Association announced the nominees in the last five categories this morning on ABC's Good Morning America. The first seven were announced yesterday.
Miranda Lambert added four more nominations today bring her grand total to nine, the most ever for a female artist in the 44 year history of the awards. She is tied for the second most nominations overall with her personal idol, Merle Haggard. Only Alan Jackson has received more in one year (10 in 2002).
Lady Antebellum was second with five and Lambert's fiance, Blake Shelton, and the Zac Brown Band each received four.
Veteran artists, who only received the five nominations for Musician of the Year yesterday, managed to pick up three more today. Reba McEntire gets a nod for Female Vocalist of the Year while George Strait receives two for Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year (Twang which he also co-produced). Unlike most years in the past, no veteran artist was nominated in the Event category.
