The extended edition contains one bonus track, a cover of the Grass Roots' Where Were You When I Needed You which was originally released as the B-Side of Hero.
Different Light is the album that really broke the group both in the U.S., where it reached number 2, and the U.K., where it peaked at 3. The album contained the hits Manic Monday (#2 U.S. Pop/#10 U.S. Adult Contemporary/#2 U.K. Singles), Walk Like an Egyptian (#1 U.S. Pop/#3 U.K. Singles) and If She Knew What She Wants (#29 U.S. Pop/#24 U.S. Adult Contemporary/#31 U.K. Singles).
