Don Williams Coming Out of Retirement for Fall Tour

The Definitive CollectionCountry's Gentle Giant, Don Williams, will come out of retirement on October 1 for a short tour built around his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame on October 24.  It will be his first performances in four years.

Williams had his first success in the 60's as a member of the Pozo-Seco Singers who took Time to number 3 on the Adult Contemporary.  The group stayed together until 1971 when Don went to Nashville to try his hand at songwriting.

The next year, Williams signed with JMI Records and, in early 1973, made the country top 40 with The Shelter of Your Eyes.  Over the next eighteen years, he scored 52 top 40 hits, 45 of which made the top ten and 17 went to number one.  Don also crossed over onto the pop top forty in 1980 with I Believe in You

The October 24 induction into the Hall of Fame will be a little bittersweet with the passing of the night's other inductee, Jimmy Dean, on Sunday.
