Chart Watch Britain: June 15, 2009
Our weekly recap of veteran artists on the current British music charts. Chart highlights:
- It's a big week for artist compilations in Britain as seven new ones hit the charts, topped off by the new U.K. version of Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band's Greatest Hits. It premiers at number 7.
- Other new compilations are by Cat Stevens (18), Mike Oldfield (25), Meat Loaf (28), Don Henley (29), the Faces (36) and the Seekers (41).
- Three albums of new material by veteran artists also premiered this week. Chickenfoot started at 23, Sonic Youth's The Eternal at 42 and UFO's The Visitor at 99.
- Falling off the British Album chart after only one week is Elvis Costello's Secret, Profane and Sugarcane.
