Mick Fleetwood Does Double Duty

You would think that Mick Fleetwood would have enough on his plate with the upcoming Fleetwood Mac tour, but he has also decided to keep the spirit of the original version of the band alive.

Fleetwood Mac started as a much heavier, blues oriented group with Fleetwood, John McVie and guitarists Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer. When both guitarists started having medical issues, the group started to soften it's sound somewhat through the use of Christine McVie's songs and the eventual addition of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.

To revive the sound of the early era, Fleetwood has assembled the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, made up of guitarist, vocalist and former Mac member Rick Vito, bassist Lenny Castellanos and keyboardist Mark Johnstone. The result has been the new live recording, Blue Again, which will be released by 429 Records on March 3 via iTunes, March 17 via CD and this coming summer in a high definition DVD.

Equal parts blues rave-up and loving homage to the early incarnation of Fleetwood Mac, Blue Again is a fiery blues showcase and heartfelt tribute to Fleetwood Mac who are just beginning their 40th Anniversary celebration. The immaculate recording gives the songs a vibrant, modern immediacy which transcends easy nostalgia.

Mick Fleetwood commented, "Over my career I've been called a pop star and a rock star, yet in my inner heart, I will always be part bluesman. On my journey from blues to a life of rock 'n' roll, I've always remembered where I started."
