Landis Now Trying to Stop Thriller, U2 May Buy Classic Studio, more
John Landis is taking his court case with Michael Jackson one more step.
As we previously reported, Landis is suing Jackson for back profits on the original Thriller video and Making of Thriller documentary. Now, he has amended the court papers to prevent Jackson from negotiating with Broadway's Nederland Group to bring the concept of the video to the stage. Landis is asking the court to stop any deals unless he signs off on it.
Landis was the director and helped develop the concept for the Thriller video.
It's being reported that U2 is trying to buy the recently closed Olympic Studios in London. EMI recently said they would sell the building as it was not making money as a recording studio. Not only did U2 record some of No Line on the Horizon at Olympic, but it has also been used by the likes of the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin.
Tom Jones and Robin Gibb are two of the performers on this year's British Comedy Relief charity single. Maybe Julian and Shawn Lennon won't be performing together afterall. Fox News reported on Thursday that the pair woul finally come together at a United Nations show in February; however, Julian has posted on his MySpace page "Sorry to say, but the news today about Sean & I playing together at the UN Awards came directly out of [Fox News'] Roger Friedman's ass!
"Do they ever tell the truth at FOX? He/they didn't even attempt to get in touch with either of our reps or the producers of the UN event to find out whether this story was true or not. So you know what they represent.....J x"
