John Fogerty Doubling Up on Releases for 2009

John Fogerty, who normally has multi-year waits between releases, is preparing new CD and DVD sets for 2009.

For the CD, Fogerty is returning to his 1973 roots-based Blue Ridge Rangers album with The Return of the Blue Ridge Rangers. Unlike on the original album where he played all the instruments, he's bringing in other musicians. Fogerty told Billboard "I've known for years that if I ever did a Blue Ridge Rangers album again I sure didn't want to play all the instruments. I had long felt that was probably something that was wrong with the first album."

Instead, he brought in musicians like Buddy Miller, Greg Leisz and Dennis Crouch for the ten-day recording session at Village Recorders in Santa Monica, California. During that time, the group recorded 15 songs from an original list of 40 put together by Fogerty and co-producers T-Bone Burnett and Lenny Waroneker.

Also coming next year is Comin' Down the Road, a DVD of his show at London's Royal Albert Hall from earlier this year and a documentary on his career.

No release dates have been set for either project.
