Jackson Going to England, Loverboy Into Canadian Music Hall of Fame, more

Michael Jackson has relented and will travel to England over the weekend so that he can testify on Monday in the lawsuit brought against him by Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Khalifa. al-Khalifa is seeking a $7 million dollar advance he gave to Jackson for an album and autobiography.


The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has announced that Loverboy will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The award will be presented at the Junos on March 28.
Madonna and Guy Ritchie's divorce is on the docket for the High Court of London on Friday. Reports say that they have already come to an agreement on assets and custody, which could lead to a final divorce decree within weeks.

Patti Labelle is not only touring with the reformed LaBelle, but has also just released her third cookbook and an instructional DVD. Recipes for a Good Life contains over 100 of the singer's favorite comfort foods and healthy recipes and is issued through Simon & Schuster. The Kitchen with Miss Patti is a 90-minute instructional DVD with step-by-step instructions on some of her favorite dishs and tips on entertaining.

Elton John and Baz Luhrmann have teamed up to write the song The Drover's Ballad, which will appear in the new Luhrmann movie Australia.

Roger Waters and Bon Jovi will be two of the acts performing at a Live Earth concert on December 7 in Mumbai, India. Al Gore will also be appearing.

After saying earlier in the week that Top of the Pops was not coming back, the BBC has announced that they will be airing two new editions, one on December 21 which which will be a chart countdown for the week and the Christmas number one, and the other on New Years Eve with a countdown of the biggest hits of the year.

Germany's highest court has ruled that sampling a song, even a very short portion, is not copyright infringement. The ruling overturned a ruling that had favored the group Kraftwerk who had sued German rap producer Moses Pelham for using two-seconds of their music.
