Patti Smith Issuing Exclusives on iTunes
Patti Smith is starting the new year with an exclusive iTunes release, the premier of a documentary at the Sundance Film Festival and dates in Washington, DC and New York.
Smith plays the 9:30 Club in Washington on December 28 before moving to New York's Bowery Ballroom for a three-night run from the 29th through the 31st. The New Year's Eve performance will be broadcast on Sirius Satellite channel Disorder 70. It will be the fourth year that Smith's performance will be broadcast.
On January 8, Smith releases iTunes Originals exclusively on the download service, with new performances, previously released tracks and an interview. The 90-minute recording includes:
- A Spring 2007 interview recorded at New York's Electric Lady Studio
- Live performances from the Spring 2007 appearance
- New studio recordings:
- Pissing in the River
- Ghost Dance
- Peaceable Kingdom
- Midnight Rider
- Soul Kitchen

Finally, Smith and others will perform works from Hans Christian Andersen, William Blake, Lewis Carroll, A. A. Milne, Rudyard Kipling, and Robert Louis Stevenson at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on January 18, 2008.
